What is Trade Protection?

Trade Protection is a transaction security system introduced by Valve on July 16, 2025, in Counter-Strike 2. Its main goal is to prevent fraud and recover stolen items. Once active, all items received in a trade are automatically placed under a 7-day protection period.

During this time, Valve allows users to reverse the trade — if your account was compromised or you were scammed, you can recover your items using the “Reverse Trade” option. If used, the trade is canceled, and your account is restricted from trading and using the Community Market for 30 days.

Although this system increases user safety, it also impacts the skin market — external platforms like SellYourSkins.com must now hold your items for at least 8 days before processing payouts.
